WHO WE ARE
Pink Dot is a club created by a group of high schoolers to promote organ donation awareness and erase the stigma behind organ donation. During the school year, we hold weekly club meetings during lunch and discuss plans for future events.
WHAT IS THE PINK DOT?
The pink dot on a U.S. driver's license signifies that you are an organ donor. Pink dots can also be seen on a donor card or driver's license.
OUR MISSION
Through awareness projects and social media, we know that the teenage community has the power to spread the word about organ donation. The club has been featured on various television and print news station and is currently planning events. Below is a sample of our photo project launched on the Pink Dot Organization Facebook page summer 2014. The video link features a few members of the club on KMVT Random Access.
How to become an organ donor
Becoming an organ donor in California is easy. While most organ donation registration occurs at the DMV, you can register online to become an organ donor. If you live in California, click here to register today. Below are some requirements to become an organ donor:
- For 13-17 year olds: You cannot officially become an organ donor, but you CAN join the Donate Life California Registry.
- Age is not a factor in organ donation. While parents/legal guardians must approve donation for minors, anyone is eligible to donate.
- CA Department of Motor Vehicles
- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
